Lea, full name James Whild Lea was born in Wolverhampton on
June 14th 1949. |

| At
school Jim was good at art, music and French. |
| His
first musical love was the violin and gained first class honours
in a London music-school practical exam. |
| His
interest in the violin decreased when he bought a guitar,
it didn't take him long to learn it. |
| Jim
answered an ad for a bassist for the band the 'N betweens,
with which Don and Dave were members. |
| Soon
after Noddy joined the 'N Betweens and the foundations for
Slade had been laid. |
| Together
with Noddy Holder he formed one of the most powerful songwriting
partnerships ever. |
